Speaking at the official launch of the campaign against Drugs and Environmental Degradation, H.E Alhaji Sampson Abudu, noted that the event was more than a school gathering as it marked the official launch of a region-wide engagement initiative across the Savannah Region, starting from Bole Senior High School.
The Council of State Member, mentioned that one of the most pressing challenges confronting young people today was drug abuse.
In engaging the students, the Council of State Member who is also the Tingawura, Alhaji Samson Abudu, also touched on environmental degradation such as poor sanitation, indiscriminate waste disposal, open defecation, and environmental pollution which contribute to preventable diseases that burden families and communities.
He urged the youth to be ambassadors of positive change, and protect their bodies from harmful substances, and also protect the environment from degradation.
The event ended successfully. Present at the event were the District Coordinating Director, the District Director of Education, the District Director of Health, the Bolewura representative, the Head Master of Bole Senior High School, NCCE Director, some staff of the Bole District Assembly, the District Police Commander, some Chiefs and Queen Mothers, and the media.
