In line with the President’s effort to protect and preserve water bodies, the District Chief Executive of Bole District, Hon. Abdulai Mahmud on Tuesday, 30th September 2025 led a team of Security Agencies to clamp down on illegal mining in the Black Volta River at Babato. The operation discovered large destruction of the water body. At the end the operation, 4 Changfan engines were burnt, 9 Changfan engines destroyed and 20 Chanfang roasting plants destroyed. The District Chief Executive after the operations applauded the Security Agencies for their statesmanship and further indicated that this exercise will be conducted frequently to get rid of mining in and around the black volta river.
